Gary, Laura + Ed
I met with Laura and Ed at Mount Osmond for our session, and what a DELIGHT their boy Gary is. We had a blast! He’s a hilarious, goofy barrel of joy and our time together went far too quickly. They very kindly took the time to tell me about how their lives have changed for the better now that Gary is part of their family.
How did Gary come into your world?
We had always wanted a dog, and decided we would look into it more seriously after our Canada trip in early 2020. Suffice to say Canada didn't quite work out (thank you COVID) and during our first week of working from home we stumbled upon a local first time breeder who had just had a small litter of Labrador x Golden Retrievers. We went for a look and the minute we cuddled Gary we knew he was the missing piece of our little family!
How would you describe his personality?
Crazy, easily distracted, and the life of the party! We were worried when we got Gary during COVID restrictions that he wouldn't be well socialised with other dogs. We definitely got that wrong! Gaz has to say hello to literally everyone, all of the time. No sniffing the butt or sizing the other dog up first, he's got no shame jumping right in to say g'day. It does get a little weird when he tries to lick the other dog's mouth though..
If he could tell us all something about you, what would he say?
Gary would tell you how weird his parents are, and how much we talk in doggo voices around the house all day to him. He'd also likely brag and talk about how obsessed we are with him, and that the millions of kisses he gets a day are starting to get a little old!
What does he love to do the most?
Literally anything as long as he's with a friend. Gary has the biggest case of FOMO ever. He just loves being around us for cuddles, a good game of tug of war or chasey around the house. Oh, and Rabbits. He has cartoon love heart eyes for a Rabbit.
What's everyday life like with your boy by your side?
So much more active and exciting. It's impossible to have a bad day when you come home to our loveable goof waiting at the door for a walk. Gary's become a permanent fixture in all parts of our lives, and every time we make plans, the first thing out of Ed's mouth without a doubt is "But can Gary come too?"
How has having your dog changed your life?
Gary's really taught us both not to take life so seriously and try and find fun in every day. Plans change and unpredictable stuff happens, but no matter what comes our way, he's always there with his cheeky grin on his face sitting up like a meerkat ready for his belly scratch.
