How did Hula + Zeus come into your world?

We both have active lifestyles and both grew up with dogs and for some reason we decided that having a husky would be a perfect fit. To the amazement of our families, it absolutely was. Hula is from Arctic Breed Rescue in NSW. The first time we met her 6 years ago, she tried to run away from us at the airport!
Zeus came into our lives via the Hahndorf shelter. We went in over Christmas expecting only to drop off some donations but instead we fell in love with a husky, and the decision was made before we even got back to the car.

How would you describe their personalties?

Zeus is a soft teddy bear who loves cuddles and is rather playful, much to the annoyance of his big sister. He is a bit aloof at times and easily distracted and is still very much a puppy. You have to work a bit harder for Hula’s love, but once you have it you realise that she is such a sweet soul. She is stubborn and independent and becomes cranky at times when Zeus pushes her buttons, but we love what a typical husky she is.

What do they love to do the most?

They love eating and sleeping like most dogs, but also are adamant that they get their two walks a day and take much pleasure in observing the ducks by the water. We love taking Hula camping and exploring but haven’t had a chance to take Zeus with her yet. Hula also loves pulling Trent on the skateboard but Zeus seems to be scared of it!

If they could tell us all something about you, what would they say?

They would tell you that Maddy is a soft touch when it comes to treats, and that Trent is the one to come to for morning hugs. They might also complain that we give too many hugs and make up too many songs about them.

What's everyday life like with Hula + Zeus by your sides?

It’s a rollercoaster of a day with a healthy mix of calm and chaos. Ultimately though we wouldn’t have it any other way. We get the perfect mix of walks, runs, cuddles and are constantly kept on our toes. And we often get to have a giggle when they bark in their sleep or do something equally goofy.

How has having Hula + Zeus changed your life?

Our dogs are part of our family and we couldn’t imagine a life without them. They have taught us how to lead, how to discipline, and how to install high fences! We honestly can’t remember what life was like without a dog - almost for as long as we’ve been living together we’ve had Hula, and both her and Zeus are the perfect companions.
