Milla, Soph + Dane
My session with Milla and her family was a genuinely special one. Milla, only a baby, had recently had her first dose of shots, so was allowed out into the big wide world with her parents for the first time. During my time with Milla, Soph and Dane I was honoured to capture their first ever walk, as well as Milla’s first time to the beach. We were all so impressed with her bravery, tackling the sea without hesitation, bolting hurriedly across the sand, and greeting every person who would stop for a pat (which was pretty much everyone in the vicinity). Milla lasted almost a full hour before succumbing to exhaustion, just in time for us all to top off our excursion by watching the most incredible sunset.
Soph tells us all about how their family of three came to be.
How did Milla come into your world?
We were on the hunt for our girl for about 12 months but have been contemplating whether to get a dog or not for 24 months. We finally met the right breeder all the way from QLD but with the right questions we knew they were the one. We waited patiently for Milla's mother to fall pregnant approx. 12 weeks and another few months until Milla was born. At the time we had no idea whether Milla's mother would have a female pup but all things fell together like it was meant to be. We were the first to choose which pup we wanted and the one that stood out to us was the one who tried to fit her brothers whole head in her mouth. That made us laugh and we knew this girl had personality. 12 weeks came and Milla had travelled via vehicle transport from Thallon to Adelaide. When I (Soph) first held her it was like Milla knew that this was home and we haven't looked back since.
How would you describe her personality?
Milla has a lot of charisma, she's gentle, sweet and very placid. Sometimes she can be very cheeky but generally on her best behaviour as she knows this is how to earn bonus points and treats. She is very curious and fascinated by the smallest things. One thing she does well is turn a bad day to a good day by just one look into the eyes. She watches us from afar like she adores us as much as we adore her.
If she could tell us all something about you, what would she say?
I think Milla would say we are loving, caring, and she really loves going the beach together.
What does she love to do the most?
She likes to chill on her bed and watch us. She also loves chasing insects like ants and flying beetles as well as shadows. She always likes to take detours around the house just so she can walk underneath furniture.
What's everyday life like with your girl by your side?
This is something that is very hard to explain, she makes us feel warm and fuzzy and you're 100% complete.
How has having your dog changed your life?
It's taught us to leave all stress behind before we walk into the door at home as we don't want to expose Milla to bad vibes. It's made us focus on important things, and taught us that living a simple life with a dog is enough.
Having a dachshund is hard work and that's why we chose one. Dane and I wanted to put all our energy in focusing on something we absolutely love. It has helped us a lot with being patience and bringing us together to achieve wins whether big or small there is always something to celebrate. It's rewarding for us all, we completely adore Milla and our life will never be the same, for the better. We don't know how we got so lucky to have her in our lives.
For sure, this girl’s a little firecracker and I wish her and her parents many more exciting adventures. I have no doubt that with Milla in the picture, adventure will never be far away!
