Lottie, Rachel + Dylan

One of the reasons I absolutely love my photo sessions, is that we can all imagine the focus of my camera is 100% on our beautiful pets when really - a photo session is ultimately about family. If you’re worried that in front of the camera you become a bit of an awkward turtle, welcome to the club because you’re certainly not alone. The lovely Rachel contacted me for a photo session recently that low-key doubled as a promotional piece for her Illustration business, Rachel Kate Darling. Rachel and Dylan’s beautiful baby girl Lottie, a 5 month old Jack Russel, was the star of the show (she was a natural) and took all the pressure off of everyone around her.
I swear, if you ever needed an excuse to have photos taken, for whatever reason, pets are a fool-proof go-to!

I hope that you love these pictures and words that give us a peek into the world of Lottie and her people.

How did Lottie come into your world?

We have another Jack Russell in the family, and we were walking her one day when we met Lottie's parents-to-be. We got chatting to their owner and he told us they were expecting a litter. We got his number and a few months later, Lottie was born! We couldn't wait to meet her.

How would you describe her personality?

She's cheeky, sassy, and at times a little bit feral! She's very independent and always busy doing something. However, she does love a cuddle on the couch and also likes being carried around the house.

If she could tell us all something about you, what would he say?

She would say that she spends her VERY early mornings sleeping on my lap and keeping me company in my studio, and that sometimes she chews a leaf off of one of my plants when she thinks I'm not looking. She would say that she adores Dylan (but also knows he is the boss!)

What does she love to do the most?

Lottie loves stealing socks, chewing on things, eating her breakfast, welcoming visitors, watching us cook dinner, snuggling, going for walks, people-watching on the porch and basically going anywhere and everywhere with us.

What's everyday life like with your girl by your side?

Lottie is my new studio buddy! She keeps me company while I am working and is often very interested in whatever is being created on my desk. Our weekends usually revolve around her and her social calendar! She goes everywhere with us. We like to walk her down to the pub to have some lunch and a couple of beers. She is quite happy sitting with us and watching the world go by.

How has having your dog changed your life?

We've only had Lottie a few months, but already she has made us slow down and enjoy the little things, get outside more often, and spend more time together. She goes everywhere with us and is very social with dogs and people.

She's just a very funny, special, busy little girl and we can't imagine or remember life without her now. She's also very photogenic and a bit of a poser, as you can see!
