Linkin, Cassia + Daemon
How did Linkin come into your world?
Linkin was a happy accident! Daemon went away for work for one night and I went to "just look" at a litter of puppies owned by a colleague of mine... I picked Linkin up, he fell asleep in my arms and that was it. I was smitten and we suddenly had a puppy!
How would you describe his personality?
Link is a very strange dog, in the best way! He's not fond of cuddling or pats but must be near us at all times, follows me all around the house so he doesn't miss out on anything (food specifically..) Occasionally he'll give a big stretch near you and that's when you're "allowed" to pat him, when he pretends he's too busy stretching to notice you - he'd never admit to liking those little pats, but his wagging tail and big smile give him away! Link is very inquisitive and curious about everything; his cheeky face and intelligence make him impossible not to love!
What does he love to do the most?
Swimming and fishing would have to be Linkin's favourite things in the world! He spent his first 4 years living on Kangaroo Island near the beach, so he loves anything water related (except for baths!) My brother is an avid fisherman and has spent hours taking Linkin (and us) fishing - the second a rod comes out Linkin is on high alert, waiting (literally shaking with excitement) for a fish to be reeled in! Daemon and I love camping by the Murray River in our Troopy, so Link has learnt that the word "camping" means swimming and probably fishing - he's a very happy boy when we tell him we're going camping for the weekend! Having towels in the car at all times is a must - if there's a body of water, he's getting in it!
If he could tell us all something about you, what would he say?
I would hope Linkin would say we're fun because we take him with us every chance we get! If there's a possibility that dogs are allowed at the venue/event/shop etc, he's bundled into the car and ready to go. Unfortunately he'd probably also say I'm stingy with treats!
What's everyday life like with Linkin by your sides?
Happier! It's crazy the amount of joy it brings me to see Linkin's smiley face, the worst day is instantly improved by spending time with him. It’s also dirtier...I never realised how much dust and dirt one dog can hold and disperse throughout the house! Lucky he's worth every bit of cleaning!
How has having Linkin changed your life?
Aside from all the obvious things like being generally happier thanks to his love and companionship, Linkin has also helped me with staying active. Without him I'd struggle to find motivation to get moving, but I just can't resist his hopeful face when he knows it's walk time! Being a Kelpie means it's not just an enjoyable activity for him, it's a necessity, so 2 walks a day it is! I think dogs are a great "excuse" to get outside and in nature, which is incredibly important!
